Shopify is opening up central B2B features for the Basic, Grow, and Advanced plans. This allows significantly more merchants to natively manage wholesale and direct-to-consumer business in a single store.

Getting started is becoming easier, but not every Plus feature is included. The deciding factor is therefore whether three B2B catalogs and standardized processes are sufficient for your business model.

Short & compact

✓ Shopify B2B is available in Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus.

✓ Companies, company locations, and self-service ordering are included in all four plans.

✓ Basic, Grow, and Advanced support up to three active B2B market catalogs in total.

✓ Quantity rules, volume discounts, and net payment terms no longer require a Plus plan.

✓ Individual company catalogs, down payments, and partial payments remain reserved for Plus.

What has changed with Shopify B2B

Shopify expanded its basic B2B features to its regular plans in spring 2026. Merchants can now represent business customers as companies with multiple locations, contacts, addresses, and individual ordering rules.

The scope of functions also includes saved credit cards, purchase order numbers, net payment terms, quick order lists, and automations with Shopify Flow. According to Shopify, there are no additional fees for the B2B features themselves, although different variable platform fees may apply for B2B and D2C orders depending on the contract.

Where the new features specifically help

Wholesale without a separate secondary store

For many brands, B2B is not an independent business model, but an additional sales channel. A shared Shopify store can bundle product, customer, order, and inventory data, while business customers see their available products and prices after logging in.

This reduces typical workarounds such as hidden collections, manually sent price lists, or email orders. This is particularly relevant for merchants with a few, clearly defined price groups, such as retailers, resellers, and bulk buyers.

Catalogs control prices and assortment

B2B catalogs define which products are available at what prices. In addition, minimum quantities, maximum quantities, order increments, and volume-based discounts can be configured.

In Basic, Grow, and Advanced, the limit of three active catalogs applies across all B2B markets. If individual customers require their own price lists, this limit quickly becomes the deciding planning factor.

Practical Check

With three catalogs, you can represent, for example, standard retail, premium partners, and bulk buyers. If, on the other hand, you regularly negotiate individual prices per customer or location, Shopify Plus remains the more suitable architecture.

These limitations remain important

For B2B, the new customer accounts must be activated and business customers must be created as companies with at least one company location. The old customer accounts cannot be used for native B2B orders.

On Basic, Grow, and Advanced, B2B catalogs also require the new Shopify Markets. Direct catalog assignments to individual companies or locations remain Plus-exclusive, as do down payment requests, partial payments, and payment terms per fulfillment.

Functional limitations must also be considered during evaluation: according to Shopify, accelerated checkouts such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay are not compatible with B2B. The same applies, among other things, to subscriptions, local delivery, and Agentic Storefronts; compatibility must be clarified separately for third-party apps.

Important

An existing D2C process cannot automatically be transferred unchanged to B2B. In particular, test payment methods, customer accounts, discounts, shipping options, and connected apps in a realistic test order.

For whom getting started is particularly useful

The expansion is particularly attractive for merchants receiving their first wholesale inquiries or wishing to digitalize a previously manual B2B channel. Three price and product groups are often sufficient, provided terms are standardized and orders can be handled entirely via self-service.

Complex corporate hierarchies are not automatically a reason for Plus. Decisive factors are rather the number of individual price agreements, special payment flows, and the desired differentiation between storefront and checkout.

What store operators should check now

✓ Identify the price and product groups actually needed.

✓ Check if three active B2B catalogs are sufficient in the long term.

✓ Activate and test the new customer accounts prior to rollout.

✓ Verify compatibility of apps, payment methods, discounts, and shipping processes with B2B.

✓ Compare the need for Plus based on concrete processes rather than expected revenue.

Start with a limited pilot segment and a few business customers. This allows you to recognize early on whether catalog logic, permissions, and payment terms work in daily operations.

Thinkideas View

Merchants with standardized wholesale prices should initially pilot native Shopify B2B features in their existing plan. A switch to Plus only makes sense once individual company catalogs or advanced payment processes are demonstrably required.

Conclusion

Shopify B2B significantly lowers the technical and financial entry barrier for wholesale. Basic, Grow, and Advanced now cover a reliable core process from the company account to self-service ordering.

The next sensible step is a process mapping with real customer and pricing models. This allows you to reliably determine whether three catalogs are sufficient or if Plus features are business-critical.
